FREESKI / SNOWBOARD
Some of the mountains around Mefjordvær offer fantastic opportunities for freeskiing and snowboarding in untouched terrain. There are no ski lifts here – you hike up on your own, take a moment at the top to enjoy the silence and the view, and then ride down through fresh powder. Often, you’ll have the mountains entirely to yourself.
For safe travel, avalanche equipment and solid local knowledge are essential. We can arrange certified guides for you and your group.

NORTHERN LIGHTS HUNTING
From late August and throughout autumn and winter, you have excellent chances of seeing the northern lights. With no light pollution in the area, the sky opens beautifully on clear nights.
Knuten, Tungeneset and Bergsbotn are some of the stunning viewpoints nearby where the aurora often dances over mountains and fjords.
Many activities can be done on your own, but for the best overall experience we recommend our 3‑day winter package – perfect for those who want to combine northern lights, raw nature, snow activities and the maritime landscape.
OTHER WINTER ADVENTURES
-Cross‑Country Skiing in Mefjordvær
Mefjordvær offers a 5 km cross‑country trail prepared by snowmobile. The track is designed for classic style, but on good snow conditions you can also venture outside the trail. The loop goes around the entire village, with start and finish close to Mefjord Brygge.
-Climbing / Ice Climbing
Choose between ice climbing, frozen waterfall climbing, deep‑snow adventures or ski touring. We work with experienced guides and tailor trips to your level and preferences. All necessary winter and safety equipment can be arranged.
-Sea Fishing
For the adventurous angler, winter fishing is a truly unique experience. The weather can be rough, but the reward is great – literally. The biggest fish are often caught in March and April, and the trip itself is a true Arctic adventure.
