Studio Dampskipskaia is an intimate and atmospheric gallery on the old quay in Fjordgård, run by visual artist Jenny‑Marie Johnsen. Educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, she works with photography and digital media that explore both the closeness of nature and the vastness of the universe.
Each summer, the gallery presents a new themed exhibition featuring works that range from Arctic motifs to cosmic phenomena and abstract structures. Here you can experience everything from birdlife and northern landscapes to art inspired by solar eclipses, planetary movements and the shifting colours of the sky.
Jenny‑Marie Johnsen has exhibited widely in Norway and abroad and has completed several major public art commissions. At Studio Dampskipskaia, you are invited into a close encounter with her artistic universe – set against one of Senja’s most spectacular backdrops.
This summer, the exhibition Arctic Birds is presented alongside the abstract series Flower of Life.
