Drive safe in the Arctic

Drive Safely in Senja with Arctic Safe Travel

Senja is an incredible destination to explore by car – but driving conditions in the Arctic can be very different from what many visitors are used to.

Arctic Safe Travel offers a digital course designed for visitors who will be driving in Northern Norway. The course provides essential knowledge about Norwegian traffic rules, how to prepare for Arctic driving conditions and how to adapt your driving to changing weather, road and surface conditions.
On Senja, weather conditions can change quickly. Roads can be narrow, winter can bring challenging driving conditions, and conditions can vary significantly over a relatively short distance. The course covers topics such as winter tyres, snow and ice, snowdrifts, narrow roads, tunnels, road closures and ferry departures, sharing the road with heavy traffic and how to adjust your speed to the conditions.

Arctic Safe Travel is not only about getting safely from A to B. It is also about travelling responsibly and showing respect for local communities, nature and wildlife, while understanding the responsibility that comes with driving in the Arctic.

The course consists of short, practical video lessons divided into 10 modules, making it particularly suitable for international visitors planning to drive themselves around Senja and Northern Norway.
