Private Arctic wilderness and wildlife adventures
Up in the Arctic is a small, locally owned guiding company based in the Målselv Valley, around 30 minutes from Finnsnes. We specialise in private nature experiences for travellers who want to explore Northern Norway at a slower pace.
Our experiences are built around wildlife, hiking, geology, storytelling and the Arctic seasons. Whether searching for wild moose in winter or hiking in Øvre Dividal National Park and remote wilderness areas in summer, every tour is guided by a local guide with extensive knowledge of the region's nature, history and culture.
By offering only private tours, we create flexible experiences tailored to each group while keeping our impact on nature to a minimum. We believe the best memories are created through genuine encounters with landscapes, wildlife and local people.

Location
Our base is in the Målselv Valley, easily reached from Senja, Finnsnes, Tromsø and Narvik. The inland climate often provides stable weather, excellent wildlife conditions and easy access to some of Northern Norway's most varied landscapes.
Pickup from Finnsnes is available on request for selected experiences.
Sustainability
Nature is the foundation of everything we do. We operate in small private groups, follow Leave No Trace principles, and always observe wildlife from a respectful distance. Our experiences focus on learning, understanding and connecting with nature rather than simply visiting it.
By sharing local knowledge about wildlife, geology, history and culture, we hope every guest leaves with a deeper appreciation of the Arctic landscapes and the people who have lived alongside them for generations.
